Obituary
Maxine Buvarp, 96, of Virginia, went home to be with her Savior and Lord on March 12, 2024. Maxine was born January 25, 1928, in Ithaca, New York, to Claude and Bessie (Pemberton) Rodee. On July 9, 1949, she married Daniel Buvarp and they celebrated 66 years together.
After graduating from Virginia Community College, Maxine was employed with WA Fisher and later at Grande Lumber Company.
Maxine loved being a wife and mother to her five children, devoting herself to being a full-time homemaker. Once she accepted Christ as her Savior, she diligently and prayerfully shared Jesus with family and friends; leading Bible studies, teaching Sunday school and Bible school, and speaking at Christian Women’s meetings. Maxine loved sewing, cooking delicious meals, cross-stitch, reading, and visiting with her friends. A gracious and generous hostess, she opened her home and heart to missionaries and special guests with Youth for Christ. Maxine loved music, and although she couldn’t carry a tune, music was a big part of family life. All five children took music lessons.
Maxine’s greatest desire was to have a loving and happy family. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed for she was greatly loved: a sweet Mama and Tama. The family looks forward to being reunited in heaven! During Maxine’s final days she often said, “I am so grateful to God. I owe Jesus so much!”.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Dan.
She is survived by her sisters Carolyn Morrison and Sharon Sanford; daughters Andrea, Aletta (Steve Whittaker), Alicia (Chris Carlson), Anita, and son, Dan (Kelly), four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 8, 2024 at Rockwell Church, 93 Midway Dr, Virginia, MN. Visitation: 1 – 2 pm Service at 2 pm. Arrangements are with the Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia.
