Welcome to our website. God is doing a new thing at Rockwell Church! We are a church with deep roots in the region. In the early 1900’s Swedish Baptists started churches on the Iron Range including Eveleth Baptist and Virginia Baptist. In 1977 those two churches merged and built a new facility in “Midway” (on the border of Virginia and Eveleth) and named their new church “Emmanuel Baptist.” In our culture today the word “Baptist” can represent many stereotypes that don’t fit who we are and be a barrier to people coming to explore our church. In April 2022 the church voted to change our name to “Rockwell Church.” We purposely followed many other churches like ours to remove the “baptist” label from our name, even though we are still part of the Converge (baptist) denomination (formerly called the Baptist General Conference). Some of the largest churches in Minnesota are part of the Converge North Central family.

The Rockwell Church name carries a simple to remember and share mission statement: “The purpose of Rockwell Church is to Connect People of all ages to Christ the ROCK so that together we live W.E.L.L. lives through:

Worshipping

Learning

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2

Loving
