“Trust in the Lord – Secrets to a Happy Life”

We are looking at the life of Joseph in the book of Genesis. A guy who kept his faith in God even when it seemed everything was against him. Today we see how Joseph finally experiences the freedom and success he was dreaming of. It’s one of those ah-hah moments when he can now look back and see how God was using the hard situations (and maybe even testing his faith) to get Joseph ready to fulfill God’s big purpose for his life. Come to Rockwell Church this Sunday to be encouraged to trust in the Lord, and keep being faithful, even when things aren’t going the way you dreamed. It’s also communion Sunday. We meet at 10:15am Sundays at 93 Midway Drive in Virginia, MN. We also have Sunday school for kids and adults at 9:00am

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

Watch “Time for Endurance – Secrets to a Happy Life”

We are looking at how God worked in the life of Joseph from the book of Genesis. Joseph had big dreams and high expectations that were shattered by brothers who hated him so much they almost killed him, a slave owner who punished him even though Joseph did everything right, and some guys he met in prison that forgot to work to help him. While Joseph did not lose his faith in God during these hard times, I’m sure he wondered what God’s plan was and why He was allowing Joseph to suffer as a captive. Come to Rockwell Church this Sunday to be encouraged that faithful endurance can lead to a great future and a productive life. We meet at 10:15am Sundays at 93 Midway Drive in Virginia, MN near Slumberland and the new Rock Ridge High School. No need to dress up, just show up!

Rockwell Church             Sept 25, 2022           Pastor Chris Teien
Endurance—Secrets to a Happy Life
Keep faith with God in the in-between times because, for God, time is
not a complication in the achievement of your dreams.

#1 Serve faithfully while you are waiting (Gen 40:1-4)

#2 Care about the people you are stuck with (v.5-8)

#3 Relate Truth to people’s life experience (v.9-13)

#4 Share your story and needs (v.14-15)

#5 Proclaim  God’s truth even when it hurts (v.16-19)

#6 Trust God even when your plans don’t go as you hoped (v.20-23)

QUESTIONS For Reflection and Discussion

1. How good are you at waiting? What’s the worst part of it? Have you ever lost your temper while waiting?

2. What are some big things you wish God would hurry up in your life? How would you describe your attitude toward those delays?

3. List some differences between a “grin and bear it” philosophy and biblical endurance.

4. What do you think time feels like to God?

5. How do you feel when you have to ask for help, charity, or grace? Is it demeaning to pursue grace from God? from others?

6. Read Joshua 10:13, Joel 2:25, and 2 Kings 20:6 along with the surrounding contexts. What do these passages imply about God’s power over time?

09.18.22 Encouraging Message from Pastor Chris Teien Rockwell.Church Virginia MN.

We are looking at how God worked in the life of Joseph from the book of Genesis. Even though he was sold into slavery by his own brothers, ripped away from his father and forced to serve someone else, Joseph was faithful to do right and honor God. Eventually he became loyal to the slave owner and when he chose to do what was right and honorable he ended up falsely accused in prison. And the Bible says God was with Joseph in the good times and the bad. Watch to be encouraged to be loyal and faithful even when things don’t go your way – you may be exactly where God needs you. Rockwell Church             Sept 18, 2022           Pastor Chris Teien
Loyalty—Secrets to a Happy Life
Reciprocate the immeasurable loyalty of God to you by your own loyalty
back to Him, because moral shortcuts make happiness fizzle.

An Example of Loyalty: Joseph in Potiphar’s House (Gen 39)

What we can learn from Joseph’s Experience and Choices

#1 Just because you’re on the downhill slide, doesn’t mean God has FORSAKEN you.

#2 The more you are CONVINCED of the love of God, the more you can reciprocate with your love for God.

#3 The turning points in your life, good or bad, become the keys to unlock the next stage in God’s PLAN for you.

#4 It’s only when you are CONTENT with today’s grace that you will ever feel truly rich and truly free.

QUESTIONS For Reflection and Discussion

1. Has a life of faith seemed like a chore to you? An endless to-do list?

2. In what ways have you morphed your faith into something you do for God more than something he does for and within you?

3. List ten ways God has been loyal to you. If you can’t think of any, start with your shoes and work your way up.

4. How convinced are you of God’s loyalty to you? Have you interpreted some of life’s twists and turns as God’s disloyalty?

5. Can you name some surprising ways God has provided for your needs? Can you say he has provided all your needs?

6. What does Romans 8:38,39 say about the permanence of God’s love?

Watch “Destiny and Consistency – Secrets to Happy Life”

We are looking at how God worked in the life of Joseph from the book of Genesis. As a teenager he had big dreams of a great destiny, yet everything seemed to be going in the opposite direction of that in his life. While he couldn’t control the difficult events that held him back, Joseph is a model of faithful consistency. Be encouraged to stay consistent in the hard times and reap the rewards when you experience your God-focused destiny. Secrets to a Happy Life: Destiny & Consistency
Nurture your personal sense of destiny, because it toughens you against the storms of life. Be consistent with God, over time, in all the areas of life,
because your internal contradictions make you nuts.

Five Laws of Destiny (Gen 37)

#1  Neither your failures nor your family’s dysfunction disqualify you from reaching your destiny.

#2  Your sense of destiny is God’s personalized invitation to a life
better than your wildest dreams.

#3  You’ll never achieve your destiny if you wait for other people’s
approval.

#4  God never calls you to neglect today’s responsibilities to pursue tomorrow’s destiny.

#5  You will reach your destiny only in ways that highlight the grace and glory of Jesus Christ who gave you a destiny to begin with.

QUESTIONS For Reflection and Discussion

1. What does Psalm 37:4 say about the desires of your heart?

2. Do you believe God still gives dreams or callings on a person’s life? Why or why not?

3. If there were no obstacles, what dream would you pursue? Have you ever shared this with anyone? Why or why not?

4. What parts of your life seem to hold you back from pursuing your dreams?

5. How can you baby step you way into your dreams or a part of them? Is there a low cost or low impact way to do this?

6. What does Romans 8:32 tell you about God’s heart toward you?

7. Have you ever been shocked to discover that a certain person claimed to be a Christian? What inconsistencies did you notice?

8. In what ways might the story be different if Onan had fulfilled his obligation? Are there any obligations you’re reluctant to fulfill?

9. Are there any ways your choices are contradicting your prayers these days? What changes might you need to make?

10. How has the frantic search for happiness played out in your life?

11. Have you observed people who were once on fire for God but now show no discernable link with him? What can turn a person off like that?

12. What does Jesus teach about consistency in Matthew 6:24?

A Contrarian’s Guide to Knowing God – Adult Fall Sunday School

This study starts Sept 18th and is lead by Tim Madlo and Chris Teien. Rockwell Church mixed Adult Sunday School Fall 2022

A Contrarian’s Guide to Knowing God Sometimes what we believe about the Christian life comes from a single but prominent point of view—an older Christian we look up to, a preacher, or a parent. But is there only one way of living the life of a Jesus follower? The Christian life—even one centered on grace—can still feel like a long list of dos and don’ts. But what if there’s more (and less) to our faith than we typically believe? In this series based on his book A Contrarian’s Guide to Knowing God, pastor Larry Osborne tackles popular assumptions about Christian living that create stress and failure rather than growth and joy.
