Welcome to Rockwell Church. We believe God is doing a new thing here on the Iron Range, and we are grateful to be part of it. Our church has deep roots in this region. In the early 1900s, Swedish Baptists planted churches in both Eveleth and Virginia. In 1977 those congregations came together, built a new facility in Midway (on the border of Virginia and Eveleth), and became Emmanuel Baptist Church.
In April 2022, our congregation voted to move forward with a new name: Rockwell Church. We are still a Baptist church and continue to be part of Converge (formerly the Baptist General Conference), a network of churches that share our commitment to the gospel. Some of the largest churches in Minnesota are part of the Converge North Central family. However, the label “Baptist” can mean many different things since there are so many types of Baptist churches. For many people, that word carries assumptions and stereotypes that do not represent who we are. Because we do not want the label itself to be a barrier for anyone who is seeking Christ or wanting to grow in their faith, we chose a name that better reflects our mission and heart for the community.
At Rockwell Church, our desire is to help people discover life in Jesus, grow in faith, and connect with a community of Christ-followers. Whether you have a long church background or are just beginning to explore questions of faith, there is a place for you here.

The Rockwell Church name carries a simple to remember and share mission statement: “The purpose of Rockwell Church is to Connect People of all ages to Christ the ROCK so that together we will experience W.E.L.L. lives through:
