The Second of the Ten Commandments is: “No Idols” and is found in Exodus 20:4-6. God has revealed in His Holy Word that He will not tolerate idols in our lives. While you may not be bowing before a shrine filled with figurines or images of false gods/idols, it is possible that something like sports, people’s approval, certain posessions, personal appearance or other things could be your idol. The problem with idols is they distance you from experiencing God, distract you from serving God and keep you from delighting in the God.
Come to Rockwell Church at 10:15am this Sunday as Pastor Chris shares Scriptures and examples on how you can be sure to worship God exclusively and not let idols get the the way. You will always come out ahead when you put God first. A great Sunday to invite a friend.
Our church service also live streams online at https://rockwell.church/live Part two in the “Live the 10” message series.
Notes: “The Problem with Idols”
“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
